In speeches I joke that while I never returned home for my Ph.D. (staying 14 years in Asia instead!) I received an MBA anyway, Masters of Business in Asia. Always gets a laugh.

It's true ... all but the diploma, and I've wrinkles on my China hand to prove it. I have hired, fired, managed, worked with and for Chinese. Partners, clients, team-members, investors, bureaucrats, vendors. Friends and not-so friends. Wives (a long story). I've done well and I've gone broke. An MBA with distinction perhaps. I know my stuff.

I love to teach, to explain things, saying the right thing in the right way at the right time to help audiences get it. I love seeing light bulbs go off in their eyes. Teaching is fun.

Years using English-as-second-language to be understood has made me a better speaker, simple words spoken clearly, no jargon. Most of what people need to know is just common sense anyway.

My bottom-up entrepreneur background makes me good choice for any size conference or meeting. I am comfortable with any (all) these jobs:

bullet breakout groups
bullet panel discussions
bullet training workshops
bullet 1-on-1 consulting
bullet

keynote speaker

Does your audience think business in/with China is important?

I call myself a cultural optometrist, adjusting people's eyes (minds) so they see the way their cultural counterpart does; Chinese glasses for Westerners and Western glasses for Chinese.

If your audience has China on the mind and wants to learn something useful, a common sense approach to business in Chinese Asia, plus be entertained and to leave energized, I'm your guy.
